Today, inflation's come down more than expected.

On the morning of this PMQs (20 May 2026) the ONS published April 2026 CPI: 2.8%, down from 3.3% in March. The fall exceeded forecasts: markets had predicted a drop to around 3.0%, and coverage of the release notes inflation 'slowed by much more than many had predicted', driven by the new energy price cap from 1 April 2026.
