In March 2026 the MoD confirmed a circa £1 billion contract with Leonardo for 23 AW149 New Medium Helicopters, built at Yeovil. The Government said it secures around 3,300 jobs at Yeovil and supports more than 12,000 across the UK supply chain, so 'thousands of jobs' is accurate.
