Over 1,400 inmates have been let out since the early release scheme began because our prisons are bursting at the seams.

Scotland has one of the highest rates of young people not in work, education, or training, as many as one in six.
Official Scottish measures are well below one in six (16.7%). The Annual Participation Measure shows only about 3.9% of 16-19 year-olds not participating in education, employment or training, and the wider 16-24 NEET rate for Scotland is around 11-13%. 'One in six' overstates the figure, and Scotland is not among the highest for the 16-19 group.

The data for 2025-2026 shows that apprenticeship starts fell below 25,000, the lowest number for over a decade, excluding the period of the pandemic.

The budget for core college funding increased by 10% to 764 million pounds.

If all 24 applications were approved, they will use up to 1 and 1/2 times our peak energy use for the whole of Scotland.
Analysis of the hyperscale data centre applications in the Scottish planning system found around 24 major proposals which, if all approved at requested capacity (~6,000 MW), would exceed 1.5 times Scotland's current total peak electricity demand. This matches the claim, though it is a projection based on applied-for capacity rather than confirmed build-out.
