This petition was created by Andy Cah and has been signed by over 116,000 people.
e-petition 752646, 'Call a public inquiry into pro-Israel influence on politics & democracy', closed with 118,886 signatures on the official UK Parliament petitions site, so 'over 116,000' (an earlier figure cited during the debate) is correct. It passed the 100,000 threshold that makes a petition eligible for a Westminster Hall debate, held on 22 June 2026.

Holding Israel to standards not applied to any other country breaches the IHRA working definition of anti-semitism, which also identifies allegations of Jewish control of governments and institutions and accusations of dual loyalty.
The IHRA non-legally-binding working definition, adopted in 2016 and used by the UK Government, lists among its illustrative examples 'applying double standards by requiring of [Israel] a behaviour not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation', 'the myth about a world Jewish conspiracy or of Jews controlling the media, economy, government or other societal institutions', and accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel than their own nations (dual loyalty).

There were 57 Jews slaughtered in Bury St Edmunds in 1190, then Norwich, Lincoln and York; and all the Jews of England were expelled in 1290.
Massacres of Jewish communities occurred across England in 1189-1190, including at Bury St Edmunds (where 57 Jews were killed in March 1190), Norwich, Lincoln and York (the mass killing at Clifford's Tower). On 18 July 1290 Edward I issued the Edict of Expulsion ordering all Jews out of England by 1 November 1290 - the first permanent expulsion of Jews by a European state.

In 2017 an Israeli official at the London embassy, named Shai Masot, was recorded by an undercover journalist expressing his goal to take down the ex-minister Alan Duncan because of his criticism of Israel's settlement expansion.
In January 2017 Al Jazeera's undercover documentary 'The Lobby' recorded Shai Masot, a political officer at the Israeli embassy in London, discussing plans to 'take down' British politicians, including then-minister Sir Alan Duncan, a critic of Israeli settlements. The Israeli embassy apologised and Masot left his post.

Declassified UK (June 2024) revealed 13 of the then 25 members of the Labour cabinet received hundreds of thousands in donations from pro-Israel donors, and that some 180 of Britain's 650 MPs had accepted such funding - one in four elected members.
The claim accurately reports Declassified UK's 2024 investigation, which stated that pro-Israel lobbyists had donated to 13 of Labour's 25 cabinet members and that 180 of the UK's 650 MPs (about 28%, roughly one in four) had accepted funding from pro-Israel groups, individuals or Israeli state institutions during their careers, totalling over £1m. The figures are Declassified UK's characterisation, drawn from Electoral Commission and register-of-interests records.

Elbit Systems, Israel's largest arms manufacturer, operates 16 sites across the UK and supplies around 85% of Israel's drones and military ground equipment.
Elbit is Israel's largest privately-owned defence company and campaign groups (CAAT) document its subsidiaries across around 16 UK sites. The 85% figure is accurate for Israel's military drone fleet, but Elbit is reported to supply roughly 80% (not 85%) of the land/ground forces equipment; the speaker conflates the two. These are activist/NGO-sourced estimates, not official Israeli government figures.

The sentencing in November 2025 of Nathan Gill, the former leader of Reform UK Wales, to more than 10 years in prison after he was found guilty of accepting bribes from a pro-Russian Ukrainian politician to peddle Kremlin narratives.

Seven prime ministers in a decade might suggest that it's more than just the wrong people getting the keys to number 10.
Counting the decade to mid-2026, the UK had six prime ministers holding office (Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak, Starmer). 'Seven' overstates this unless an incoming successor to Starmer - implied elsewhere in the debate to be departing - is included; on the standard count over any ten-year window since 2015 the figure is six, not seven.

76 years ago, we were rightly proud to recognise the state of Israel.
The UK granted de jure recognition of the State of Israel on 27 April 1950 (de facto recognition had come on 29 January 1949). Measured from the 2026 debate, 76 years earlier is 1950, matching the UK's formal (de jure) recognition.

In October 2025, MI5 issued urgent guidance to parliament warning that Russian hackers had stolen data from members of parliament, leaked sensitive UK-US trade documents ahead of the 2019 general election, and impersonated foreign embassies to contact ministers directly.
In mid-October 2025 MI5 issued security guidance to MPs and staff warning of espionage and cyber threats from Russia, China and Iran. UK authorities have separately attributed to Russian actors the theft/leak of UK-US trade documents ahead of the December 2019 general election and the impersonation of embassies to approach officials, matching the incidents cited.

We should condemn the tendency to hold 300,000 British Jews collectively accountable for the actions of the Israeli government.
The 2021 Census recorded 271,327 people identifying their religion as Jewish in England and Wales; adding Scotland and Northern Ireland brings the UK total to roughly 287,000. '300,000' is a rounded-up community estimate (the census question is voluntary and undercounts), slightly above the recorded figure, so the order of magnitude is right but the precise number is somewhat high.
