Live fact-check · political broadcasts

Claims, fact-checked live.

Cryterio listens to the broadcast, isolates factual claims and checks them against public sources while the person is still speaking. Every verdict cites its source and reaches the audience where it watches: on air, in the article, on the phone.

How it works

From audio to verdict, in seconds

As the broadcast runs, every claim is checked against sources and appears on the timeline in real time, with the source to consult.

01

Listens and transcribes

We capture the broadcast audio and transcribe it on our servers in Europe, sentence by sentence. No audio leaves our servers.

02

Isolates the facts

We separate checkable claims from opinions, promises and rhetoric. Numbers and entities are normalised.

03

Checks and cites

Selected claims are compared with available sources. Verdicts are true, imprecise, unconfirmed or unverifiable.

Where you see it

The verdict reaches the audience where it watches

The same verdict, with the same source, on three surfaces. The work is done once per broadcast and distributed to everyone.

Overlay · broadcasters

On air

An OBS or vMix overlay displays published verdicts during the broadcast. Arrange activation and timing with us.

Embed · publishers

In the article

Field app · professionals

In the field

Point your phone at the speaker, at a rally or a press conference, and the checks appear on screen as they speak.

Method, not opinion

Every assessment rests on a source

When the evidence is not enough, the result is “unverifiable”. The reference is always the source's data (“the ONS reports X”), never the person, and no claim is flagged as imprecise or wrong without a primary source cited.

When a signature proof is available on the permalink, you can verify the signed content's integrity offline using Ed25519. The signature establishes integrity, not the accuracy of the verdict.

Anchored to the data

Verifiable verdicts include available sources with links and excerpts; insufficient evidence leads to an unverifiable verdict.

In real time

The timeline updates during the broadcast. Verification time varies with audio, sources and claim complexity.

Verifiable by anyone

When a signature proof is available on the permalink, you can verify the signed content's integrity offline using Ed25519. The signature establishes integrity, not the accuracy of the verdict.

For people who work with information

Three scenarios, one a day

Those who need to know, live, what holds and what doesn't, and prove it with the source at hand.

In the newsroom, during PMQs

The reporter follows the session with the timeline open: the figure quoted by the minister is already checked against the ONS data by the time the piece is written.

In the control room, during the debate

The lower third shows “true”, “imprecise” or “unconfirmed” with the source, in the outlet's name, with no extra fact-checker in the studio.

In the field, at the rally

Using field tools, the press office follows verdicts for selected claims on a phone, with explanations and available sources.
